Welcome to Cyrus J. Morris Elementary School, home of the Matadors, where students are... "Shooting for the Stars!" We are excited to share all the wonderful things happening at our school and encourage you to explore our website to learn more about us.

C.J. Morris is proud to be an International Baccalaureate/Primary Years Programme School. As an international school, we provide a rigorous curriculum and encourage our students to think and explore, as they learn the skills necessary for success in the 21st Century. Our dedicated staff embraces the needs of the whole child and brings the world into our classrooms.


C.J. Morris Undergoes IB/PYP Evaluation Visit

C.J. Morris Undergoes IB/PYP Evaluation Visit With IB Coordinator, Mrs. Arellanez, leading the way, it seems like only yesterday that Cyrus J. Morris received the exciting news and honor of becoming an International Baccalaureate Organization, Primary Years Programm (IB/PYP) School. C.J. Morris was evaluated by the IBO on April 28th and 29th. The evaluation visit is required by the IBO every five years. The staff at C.J. Morris has worked diligently to meet the requirements of the IB/PYP Program, and prepare for this year's visit.

The purpose of the visit is to ensure that the standards and practices of the IB/PYP Program are maintained. The IBO will provide the school with feedback to guide improvement in our Primary Years Program. To prepare for this visit, the entire staff at C.J. Morris has undergone significant reflection on instructional practices. The school community, staff, students, parents and district personnel were instrumental in highlighting the progress C.J. Morris has made as a Primary Years Program World School. The IB/PYP evaluation team will provided feedback to guide the future practices in the PYP Program.

The staff at C.J. Morris understands that the IB/PYP journey will never end. One IB evaluation visit ends, only to jump right into preparing for the next. The end result always proves that the process is purposeful to our school staff and most importantly our students.
Parent Night - IB/Common Core
IB/Common Core Parent Night - Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm in CJM Multi-purpose room. We will discuss: What it means to be an IB school and our upcoming visitation from IB headquarters. In addition to the IB information, a presentation detailing the new Common Core State Standard and the SBAC testings will follow. We will post both presentations along with the SBAC practice test on our school website for parent unable to attend.

C J Morris Elementary Honors Star Students, Partners in Education
WALNUT, CA--Walnut Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees recognized outstanding Super Star Students and Partners in Education from Collegewood and C.J. Morris Elementary Schools, and the Dedicated to Learning (D2L) Program during the Board Meeting held on December 11, 2013.
2013 Holiday Food Drive Hosted by Student Leadership Coucil

2013 Holiday Food Drive Hosted by Student Leadership Coucil The holiday spirit is alive and well at C J Morris Elementary. Student Leadership Council hosted a Holiday Food Drive from Dec.2nd through Dec.13th. This event is an effort to support our own C J Morris families in need. Student Leadership Council collected, sorted and boxed 1,487 food items, which will be distributed before the winter break.
Operation: Human Beings Helping the Philippines
C.J. Morris Student Leadership Council is hosted "Operation: Human Beings Helping the Philippines." We raised $2,120 for the victims of typhoon Haiyan. We ran this donation drive until Tuesday, November 26th. All proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross for Philippines Typhoon Relief. We thank our school community for helping us make a difference in the world.
C. J. Morris donates $1057 to Plaza Towers Elementary School

C. J. Morris donates $1057 to Plaza Towers Elementary School Plaza Towers Elementary School of Moore Oklahoma was hit by a tornado on May 20, 2013. The school was demolished and seven children died. This school holds a special place in our hearts as one of our very own teachers, Mrs. Noelte attended Plaza Towers Elementary in 3rd and 4th grade. In an effort to help the school, C.J. Morris Elementary hosted “Sooners the Better” donation drive and raised $ 1,057 last May. This fall we made the donation to Moore Public Schools, Plaza Towers Donation Fund. Thank you to all our families that contributed. Together we can do great things in the world.
