Important Reminders

• A.M. Drop Off Time: Students should arrive at school after 8:00 a.m. unless they are signed up for a before-school activity. The gate opens and supervision is available at 8:00 a.m. Please, no student drop-offs or pick-ups in front of the school.

• Arrival Time: Students walk into class from the playground at 8:10 a.m. Instruction begins promptly at 8:15 a.m. On Late Start Mondays, students walk into class at at 9am and instruction begins at 9:05am.

o Dismissal Times: Grades 1-5 @ 2:35 p.m. M-F, and Kindergarten @ 1:35 p.m.M-Th & 11:35 a.m.Fridays.

• After school bus riders will need to wait for the bus in front of the school the bus usually picks up student from 2:40-2:50 p.m.

• Absences: If your student is absent for any reason, please call our absence line at: (909) 839-2109 to report the absence. Please call each day of a child’s absence. If a child is out for three days, three calls should be made. For an illness of three or more days, a doctor’s note is requested. If an absence or late arrival is due to a doctor or dentist visit, please provide the office with a note from the doctor/dentist for the tardy to be excused. Homework requests: It is important for students who are ill to rest. Please note: Homework requests can be made upon being absent THREE or more days. Requests must be called-in before 11:00 a.m. and may be picked up in the school office at or after 3:15 p.m. on the day requested.

• After-school Arrangements: Please make every effort to ensure your child knows how he/she is to get home daily before arriving to school. Classrooms may only be interrupted for emergencies.

• Birthdays: Your child’s birthday is an important event. However, in order to ensure instruction remains our top priority, we request that celebrations remain at home. Feel free to honor your child with a birthday book donation to the classroom library. Recognition may include a birthday song, special writing activities (cards, letters, etc.) presented to the birthday child, sticker awards, puzzles, etc.  No food items are permitted for birthday celebrations due to student health concerns and food allergies.

• Early Check Outs: We appreciate you planning ahead for special appointments so you do not need to check out your child before the end of the school day. Whenever a classroom is called for an early pick-up, instruction is interrupted for the entire classroom. Please refrain from taking a child from the classroom in the last 15 minutes of the school day, as this is a very busy time.

• Late Pick Ups: School is dismissed at 2:35 p.m. daily (Kindergarten at 1:35 p.m. Mon. – Thurs. and 11:35 a.m. on Fridays). Students should be picked up in a timely manner each day within 15 minutes of school dismissal. Late students must be signed out in the school office. Excessive lateness will result in a meeting with the principal to discuss childcare options.

• Lost & Found: Please put your child’s name on ALL personal items brought to school. Many coats, jackets, lunch pails, and other items are unclaimed each year. We donate all unclaimed “Lost and Found” items to Goodwill before winter break and at the end of the school year.

• Lunches: Students may purchase lunch any day for $3.00 or bring a sack lunch from home. We suggest purchasing lunches weekly or monthly through our “On-line POS System” at Students may then purchase lunch as needed, as long as there are funds in their account. Parents may also purchase lunches by dropping off payment in the office lunch money lockbox before 9:30 a.m. Please plan ahead and be sure to provide your child with one of these options before leaving home every morning. Late lunches should be brought into the school office no later than 9:30 a.m. For lunch menus, go on our district website at, click on Department, click on Food Services and look for the “Go Green” logo and sign up for Lunch Menus to be e-mailed to you.

• Medications: Medicine may only be given to a student at school if a WVUSD Medication Release form is on file in the school office. Students may not carry any form of medicine (including inhalers, cough drops, over-the-counter medicines, etc.)

• Parking: Visitor parking is available in assigned spaces in the designated parking lot. All other spaces are for staff parking only. Also, please do not park and leave your car in the drop-off and pick-up zones.

• P.E. Excuse: A physician’s note is required to excuse a child from weekly Physical Education.
